Foods That Nourish Qi
In general foods that nourish the spleen and digestive system nourish the body’s Qi. Also foods that nourish blood also nourish Qi. Eating congee especially, and soups and stews can greatly nourish Qi. According to Chinese medicine, the stomach is the source of "post-heaven" qi. This means we get qi from the foods we eat, provided the food has vitality inherent within it.
These are the foods that especially nourish Qi. Once again, all foods with vitality also nourish Qi. Foods with the most Qi are locally grown or produced, organic, and are fresh before preparation. They not overcooked. They are not shipped in very far to your grocer. They are not overly stored nor overly old. They do not contain artificial ingredients to overstay their shelf life. They are neither freezer stored (an exception is meat) nor need to be microwaved to make them edible.
They are also not loaded with salt and sugar and other flavor enhancers (even the so called "natural flavor" ingredient). Free ranging fish, meat, and fowl have the most Qi. Ample vitality or Qi is created in the body by a healthy "digestive fire"
